Over a Brew with Jay & Gosia Decker – Founders of Rise & Bloom
Our Coffee Shop Snapshot series showcases the people who make the coffee industry tick, and…
Previous to artisan, Edwin and Magda took a year out volunteering in Uganda, and worked with beekeepers in the Rwenzori mountains as well in a vocational college, which they loved. Both projects were so incredibly rewarding, and they felt real ownership over them that they decided not to go back to ‘normal’ 9-5 work. It was there they decided to come back to London and set up artisan, a specialty coffee shop like the ones Magda knows and loves in her home town, Perth, Australia. Fast forward since it all began in 2011; they have 5 specialty coffee shops, the Artisan Coffee School and their roastery, Curious Roo Coffee Roasters.
We have our own roastery, Curious Roo Coffee Roasters and work with amazing coffee growers and cooperatives that source the best possible arabica beans.
What makes your coffee shop stand out?
We adopt an Aussie approach to artisan – where our specialty coffee is absolutely stand out – our baristas put care and dedication into each cup. Our team also provide exceptional and authentic customer service, where we get to know our customers, their drinks, as well and their stories – and that’s what makes us special.
We chose artisan, because what we do is an art form – everything is made with love, by hand – attention to detail every step of the way.
